The following is an example of the possible breakdown of required honors classes over 8 semesters. Students will need to adjust this schedule to accommodate their major or minor requirements. All students should consider making an appointment with Jessica Moon to talk about how to include honors courses in their personal program of study.

Maintaining Honors Status

There are two components to maintaining honors status:

1) GPA Policy: To remain in the program, students must maintain a cumulative grade point of at least 3.30. Students who do not meet the minimum requirement will be placed on probation for one semester. During that semester a student must achieve a non-cumulative GPA of 3.30 to provide evidence of overall improvement. Such evidence of improvement, and a continued effort to raise the cumulative grade point above 3.30, will remove the student from probationary status. However, if no improvement is shown during the probationary semester, the student will be dismissed from the program. If a student wishes to re-enter the program, reapplication is necessary.

2) Active Student Policy: To ensure sufficient progress toward an honors designation, students must maintain "active student status" by enrolling in a minimum of one honors course per academic year. Students who do not comply with this policy will be required to indicate their intent to a) enroll in future coursework, or b) discontinue program membership.
